Roofing Crew Leader (Commercial)

Position Overview:
GSM Services is seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Crew Leader to lead our roofing crew with professionalism, expertise, and dedication to quality. This position is integral to ensuring that our projects meet high standards of safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction while fostering a positive team environment.

Location: Gastonia NC

Commercial Roofing Crew Leader Responsibilities:

Project Management:

• Set up project sites with equipment and daily production goals.
• Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers/Superintendent to meet goals.
• Communicate effectively with clients, General Contractors, and team members.
• Protect jobsite materials, equipment, and building contents.

Leadership & Team Development:

• Lead and train a team of 5-10 crew members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
• Facilitate daily huddles, toolbox talks, and two-week look-ahead plans.
• Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and team support.

Safety & Compliance:

• Identify and address safety hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and GSM standards.
• Maintain certifications for equipment such as forklifts and Aerial Work Platforms (AWP).
• Uphold GSM’s core values and safety policies at all times.

Technical Skills:

• Oversee the installation of various roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, Mod Bit, PVC, BUR, etc.).
• Read and interpret blueprints and troubleshooting diagrams.
• Ensure materials and roofing systems are installed per manufacturer specifications.
• Perform and guide adjustments and repairs on-site as needed.

General Duties:

• Maintain roof appearance during and after project completion.
• Ensure job site cleanliness and adherence to GSM standards.
• Complete all required reports and submit them weekly.

Commercial Roofing Crew Leader Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of roofing experience.
• Proficiency with roofing tools (hammer, knife, ISO saw, chalk line, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Physically capable of lifting 80 lbs., climbing 40’ ladders, and working in extreme weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to enforce them.
• High school level reading and writing proficiency.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
